summary	The project seminar CELLmicrocosmos 3.2is was the initial cell modeling project. It consisted of two major topics: molecular modeling (done by the Cm2 MD Edition group), and mesoscopic modeling (done by the Cm1 Educational Edition group).

aims

The project seminar CELLmicrocosmos 3.2is was the initial cell modeling project. It consisted of two major topics: molecular modeling (done by the Cm2 MD Edition group), and mesoscopic modeling (done by the Cm1 Educational Edition group).

In cooperation with Dr. Jens Krüger (in those University of Paderborn, today Tübingen University), the MD Edition group started to used the Cm2 MembraneEditor with GROMACS for molecular dynamics simulations. A number of posters and theses resulted from this project.

But also the second group created the base for an important topic: the CellExplorer Educational Edition (CE³). Under sub guidance of Marco Civico and Roland Orlik, the students started to create a light version of the CellExplorer, optimized for the use in schools for cytological education.

Based on the success of these two approaches, during the following years the Cell Modeling projects started.
